Women briefs: RHAMC honors Edward specialist

Donna Serlin, a pulmonary rehab clinical specialist at Naperville's Edward Hospital, was recently honored for "Making A Difference" by the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago.

Serlin was recognized for her efforts to involve Edward Hospital's pulmonary rehab groups in RHAMC activities such as Cruising with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and the COPD Respiratory Rally.

In addition, Serlin has volunteered to serve as the host of Inspiration, an upcoming fundraising event for the RHAMC's Women and Lung Health Initiative.

United Way of the DuPage Area is celebrating the launch of the Women's Leadership Council with a kickoff luncheon at noon Thursday at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

Guests will hear of plans for the coming year as they enjoy a healthy gourmet meal, a cooking demonstration and a jazz performer. Individual contributions of $40 will benefit health and wellness programs throughout the DuPage area.

DuPage Medical Group will hold grand opening festivities for The Dermatology Institute at the CityGate location in Naperville from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Guests will have an opportunity to learn about the latest in dermatology, including treatments for common skin conditions, aesthetics and Mohs surgery for skin cancer.
