Feinstein returns to North Central
Broadway star Michael Feinstein returns to Naperville for a Nov. 14 performance at North Central College.
Feinstein's performance will begin at 8 p.m. in Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave., Naperville. Tickets are $70, $60 and $55. Call 630-637-7469 or visit finearts.northcentralcollege.edu/x48322.xml .
Feinstein is one of the premier interpreters of American popular song and has been a household name since the success of his 1988 one-man Broadway show "Isn't It Romantic?" He maintains a busy touring schedule and is nationally recognized for his commitment to the American popular song, both celebrating its art and preserving its legacy for the next generation.
Feinstein plans a return to Broadway early in 2010. He is scheduled to perform in "All About Me," featuring the vocalist and pianist accompanied by a small orchestra in an evening of standards.
"The Sinatra Project," Feinstein's latest CD from Concord Records, celebrates the musical sensibilities of "Old Blue Eyes" and this year earned Feinstein his fifth Grammy Award nomination. He is preparing a PBS television series, "Michael Feinstein: Man On A Mission," scheduled to air in 2010 and documenting how the artist discovers treasures of the Great American Songbook around the world.
Feinstein also is producing a CD for friend Liza Minnelli based on the music of her godmother Kay Thompson, the famed author, singer and arranger. He will also host and serve as consultant on a new PBS film on vintage Hollywood, "Soundies," and is producing a documentary feature on arts and society icon Kitty Carlisle Hart.
Feinstein performed in North Central College's Pfeiffer Hall in 2001 as part of the Naperville/North Central College Performing Arts Series. USG Corporation is underwriting sponsor for this concert and the 2009-2010 Fine & Performing Arts Series at North Central College.
