Library briefs: Halloween Spook-Tacular

Halloween Spook-Tacular
Join us for Halloween stories, songs and a puppet show for all to enjoy. Be sure to wear your costume. At 4:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in the Riverwalk Amphitheater.
Fanged Creature Double Feature
Calling all brave teens out there -- we dare you to join us for a showing of two very different films with one common theme ... vampires!

We will start with the 1931 black-and-white classic "Dracula," starring Bela Lugosi, followed by the 2008 smash hit "Twilight."

Find out just how much vampire films have changed over the years. A brief intermission will take place between films and refreshments will be provided. No registration required. At 5 p.m. Oct. 30 at the 95th Street Library, 3015 Cedar Glade Drive.

Scarecrows Don't Scare Me!
If you're not afraid of scarecrows, come to our scarecrow party.

Join us for scarecrow stories, songs, games and a craft. For children of all ages and their caregivers. No registration required.

Stress seminar
Join Dr. Kristina Sargent for "How Stress is Affecting Your Life and What You Can Do to Keep it from Breaking You Down."

We are all in the battle against stress. If you have a strong resistance to stress you will be healthy, and if you don't, you will break down with a variety of health issues.

If you suffer from fatigue, headaches, neck and shoulder pain, digestive problems and other ailments, you will not want to miss this workshop. Learn how to increase your body's resistance to stress naturally so you can feel great and enjoy a healthy life.

Literary criticism resources for students
Can't sleep at night because you have to find a feminist interpretation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein? Then this is the workshop for you.

We will cover how to use the library's literature databases to find literary criticism and background information about authors and their works, including historical context, author biography and critical reception.

Black Light Theater
Join us for the magic of this illuminating program! Stories will be told in a darkened room using black light and glow-in-the-dark props and puppets. Recommended for ages 3 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. No registration required.

Young Readers Week
Celebrate Young Reader's Week Nov. 8 to 14 at the Naperville Public Library.

Join us in all three of our children's departments for fun activities, games and crafts, Each day of the week we will offer an interactive activity to promote early literacy skills. Children can enter the ever popular Guessing Jar Challenge and try their luck at a raffle prize. Answer a trivia question about your favorite storybook characters and win a cool pencil!

Children entering the raffle must show their Naperville Public Library card.
