Rosebud's future in Naperville will look a lot like its past

November 9, 2009

Naperville has spoken, Rosebud's will return to its Italian roots after a short hiatus.

"The phone has been jumping off the hook with our customers who missed our Italian specialties ... we will return with a menu that features great value," said Alex Dana, head of the Rosebuds restaurant group.

The restaurant had closed Oct. 15 to undergo kitchen and dining room enhancements to prepare for the revamped menu.

Rosebud's had attempted to introduce a new concept of family-friendly foods, offering pickles, coleslaw and Boston baked beans as nibblers while you waited for your order. Comfort foods such as ribs, southern fried chicken and many others were served up ala family style. But customers weren't too happy with the change. They missed the famous restaurant's cuisine. The feedback contributed to the decision to return to an Italian specialties menu. Rounding out the traditional checked table cloth Rosebud's experience will be several kinds of pizza for all the "pie" lovers.

Rosebud's will once again bloom downtown Nov. 16.

Beauty is more than skin deep

The Dermatology Institute of the DuPage Medical Group is accepting new patients at 2155 CityGate Lane, Suite 225. The "practice which has a boutique feel is both relaxing and tranquil," according to a press release.

The experienced physicians at the institute have extensive experience performing many of the most popular cosmetic procedures, including lip augmentation (improving the appearance of your lips), photodynamic therapy (a treatment that uses photo-sensitizing agents with light to kill cancer cells), laser hair removal, spider and varicose vein treatment, to name just a few.

While the facility specializes in dermatologic issues, doctors there also perform Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery (the immediate and complete microscopic examination and elimination of certain skin cancers). Brooke Glisson, administrative assistant and aesthetic coordinator, said, "whether addressing a specific dermatologic issue or projecting a more youthful appearance, our team strives to help you achieve the results you desire."

All in the Family

Nick's Cozy Corner, a neighborhood fixture at 12337 S. Route 59 in Plainfield since 2003, reluctantly closed its doors July 27. Owner Nick Mathews then sold the business to his sister Angel and husband Michael Herzberger.

"Nick" will be staying on in the capacity of head chef. The Herzbergers reopened the restaurant Nov. 3 to their loyal patrons -- the joint was jumping!

"I believe in my brother Nick in any capacity," Angel Herzberger said. "He's the best chef in town."

Again serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner at reasonable prices for the entire family, with carry-out available on the entire menu. Their new hours are: 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and closed Monday.

Clothing fit for royalty at a commoners price

The Children's Clothing Palace has royally trumpeted its opening at 2835 Aurora Ave. in the Westridge Shopping Center, two doors down from Old Country Buffet.

It offers brand-name children's clothing in sizes 0 months to size 16, for a pittance of their original price. Name brands include: Ralph Lauren, Polo, Nautica, Ed Hardy, Carters, Izod and Liz Claiborne.

This 2,400-square-foot kid's clothing experience provides children an opportunity to play in their own kingdom while their parents are perusing these quality offerings.

"We are committed to offering our customers the best prices possible," said Brian C. Hulsey, chief operations officer. "Some customers confuse our store as a resale shop; however, our clothes are brand-new. We have a no-hassle return policy."

Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and closed Monday.
