Career planning for veterans
Quidlibet Strategic Ventures, a nonprofit founded to provide career planning, business education and support services for military veterans interested in business ownership, will launch its Ventures for Veterans Project with an event to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 12 at VFW Post 8081, 3S371 Mignin Drive, Warrenville.

The keynote speaker for the organization's debut is 1st Sgt. Harold "Butch" Smith, who will share his experiences in making the transition from career military to civilian employment and then to entrepreneur.

All interested military veterans are invited to attend this educational and informative event. There is no charge for admission and food will be served free of charge. Beverages will be available for purchase from the VFW to benefit Post 8081.

Naperville-based Nalco has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest corporate citizenship and social responsibility organization.

Created in 2000 as part of the United Nation's efforts to spur support of its Millennium Development Goals, the United Nations Global Compact requires an organization's commitment to 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. More than 5,000 companies have joined the United Nation's Global Compact.
