Naperville's Tie Bar returns to Macy's show

October 29, 2009

Naperville-based The Tie Bar, now entering its third consecutive year of selling its 63-inch, extra-length neckties at the Macy's Chicago flagship store, was featured in Macy's Designers of Chicago fashion show Oct. 22 in Millennium Park.

The Tie Bar's branded "Sugar Chicago Neckwear" extra-length ties were worn by scantily clad male models sporting boxers as they strolled down the runway. The annual event was the kick-off to Fashion Focus Chicago, which takes place each fall in the Windy City.

Sugar Chicago Neckwear is The Tie Bar's wholesale brand. New collections are offered six times each year.

"We are proud to be a continuing part of Macy's Chicago's neckwear collection and we're honored to be part of Macy's annual event featuring Chicago's top fashion designers," said Greg Shugar, CEO and lead designer of Sugar Chicago.

For the third year in a row, Shugar was named by Macy's as a Top Designer of Chicago. Shugar and his wife Gina are 10-year Naperville residents who founded The Tie Bar in 2004.

Former lawyers, the Shugars launched www.thetiebar.com in 2004 after being fed up with paying a fortune for neckties. They created the site to offer an affordable, stylish option for men looking to add to their wardrobe. The Web site offers hundreds of styles of 100 percent silk ties in a variety of colors and patterns for $15 each.

In addition to selling its ties, the site also sells original design cuff links, pocket squares and dress shirts, making it a one-stop shop for business professionals and gift buyers.

The Tie Bar's warehouse and showroom is at 424 Fort Hill Drive, Unit 143, Naperville. Visit www.thetiebar.com or www.sugarchicago.com .
