Naperville post office increases retail offerings

October 25, 2009

The Naperville Post Office, 1750 W. Ogden Ave., is the first office in the area to offer greeting cards for sale to customers.

The United States Postal Service brand has tremendous recognition in the national marketplace. A new strategy is being implemented to use that brand and national retail presence to make the Postal Service a professional retailer.

The retail products offered will provide affordable, branded items to customers as a convenient and value added service.

The Postal Service has partnered with Hallmark to provide greeting cards. Greeting cards are a true fit to the Postal Service's core business. If customers are purchasing shipping supplies to mail their holiday, birthday, graduation or other gifts and they forgot to bring a card to mail with it, there will be a selection of greeting cards for their convenience.

The strategy is to introduce a consistent and professional new look for the open merchandise area of post offices. The new look will include a combination of existing lines, such as free expedited shipping supplies; supplies to purchase; and new lines, including philatelic products, mailing-related products and other branded merchandise.
