Leaf pickup: The 2009 Loose Leaf Pickup Program is running now through the week of Nov. 16. Lisle provides free weekly pickup of loose leaves (not bagged) for all single-family homes within the village's corporate limits. Crews will go through the entire village once a week and pick up leaves that have been raked to the front parkway. Leaves not in the front parkway at the time crews arrive will not be picked up until the following week. Call 630-271-4180.

Women's Expo: Women from St. Joan of Arc parish will be showcasing their businesses, services and products from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the St. Joan of Arc School Gym, 4913 Columbia, Lisle. Admission is free. Prizes will be given away every 30 minutes. Businesses include jewelry, skin care, gourmet foods and desserts, health insurance, antiques, psychologist, purses, organization consulting and home decorating. Call 630-369-4389 or 630-904-1790.
Shredding party: Shred and recycle your old documents for free at Lisle Park District's Paper Shredding Party from 9 a.m. to noon at the lower parking lot of the Community Center, 1825 Short St., Lisle. Drive up and drop off documents for secure, on-site destruction. Only paper items will be accepted.

Church food drive: St. Joan of Arc parishioners will be going door to door in Lisle and in western Downers Grove from 1 to 4 p.m. collecting donations of nonperishable food and paper products for its annual Harvest Sunday Food Drive. Parishioners will be distributing fliers, picking up donations and sorting, packing and distributing food. Donations will be shared with local families as well as with the Lisle Township Food Pantry, FISH Food Pantry in Downers Grove and the People's Resource Center in Wheaton.
Craft show: Members and friends of the Book and Paper Guild will have their seventh annual sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Warren Tavern, 3S540 Second St., Warrenville. Home accessory items, hand-bound books, journals, cards, original art, ornaments, pottery, jewelry, hand knits and other items will be featured.

Business women: Lisle Women in Business will hold its monthly luncheon and presentation from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Marriott Hickory Ridge, 1195 Summerhill Drive, Lisle. The group is a committee of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce that provides women with monthly opportunities for networking and continuing education for both personal and professional growth. Admission is $20 for chamber members and $30 for non-members. Call 630-964-0052.

Pantry volunteers: The Downers Grove Area FISH Pantry will hold a volunteer recruitment and training session from 10 a.m. to noon at Community Bank of Downers Grove, 1111 Warren Ave. The pantry, at 4340 Prince St., provides support to residents in need. Volunteers are needed to help at the food pantry, drive clients to medical appointments and to answer phones. Call 630-968-4700.
Book collection: Downers GroveAAUW's bimonthly collection of used books will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Eagle Storage, 555 Rogers St., Downers Grove. Paperbacks, hard covers, textbooks published after 2003 are accepted. Books will be sold at the 52nd annual Used Book Sale in June.
