DuPage County receives more H1N1 flu vaccine

October 30, 2009

The DuPage County Health department received its second shipment of the H1N1 vaccine Wednesday afternoon, accepting another 6,000 doses of the inhalable mist form.

David Hass, public information officer for the department, said appointments can be arranged by calling 866-311-1123.

"We are now scheduling into December," Hass wrote in an e-mail to The Sun.

Staff members taking appointments screen callers to ensure the people coming in for the treatment qualify for the mist and do not require the injectable shot form instead.

The health agency continues to await additional shipments, but the pressure of the initial wave of immunizations has eased somewhat.

"The wait on the clinic number to make an appointment has decreased," Hass said.

The first shipment sent to the county, received three weeks ago, included 10,000 doses, a combination of mist and syringe-administered forms.
