It took eight people to move Nancy Hund safely when she was first hospitalized more than two months ago. By the time she first came to the nursing home for rehabilitation, only six people were needed to keep her stabilized. As of last week, she's able to shift from her bed to a padded wheelchair with assistance from two strong helpers. On Aug. 23, she and a friend were bicycling in Joliet when she was struck and nearly killed by an alleged drunken driver.

Nancy Dye will never forget the day she was walking home from grade school and a patrol boy called her a "fat a--." Decades later, she can recall the incident in vivid detail and still remembers the boy's name. Today the New Lenox woman is 51, and for years she's been on a quest to achieve a goal that could help ease that memory.

A nephew of Drew Peterson's slain third wife says prosecutors will call him to the witness stand during the disgraced former cop's trial, and he believes the testimony is going to cost him a year of his life.

"This is definitely political," Charlie Doman said of prosecutors supposedly planning to lock him up for the maximum year sentence if he is convicted of misdemeanor battery and obstructing justice in order to keep his testimony above reproach.
