House raffle winners

Lincoln-Way High School District Foundation for Educational Excellence wrapped up the house raffle campaign on Oct. 16 with the drawing.

Eleven winning names were selected from a total of 3,501 ticket entries. The accounting firm Mulcahy, Pauritsch, Salvador and Company audited the drawing. Will County Sheriff Paul Kaupas pulled the winning tickets; Superintendent Lawrence Wyllie announced the winners.

The grand place winner is Joleen Wisch of Tinley Park; she purchased her ticket from the Walt's store in Tinley Park. There were 10 additional $1,000 winners. Monica Cruz of Joliet purchased her ticket at the Berkot's in Manhattan. Mike Gilbert of Indiana and Virginia Casey of Mokena purchased tickets from Ranch Frostie. Alicia Jakobek of Manhattan purchased her ticket at Frankfort Fall Fest. Robert Graf of Burbank, Patrick McGuire of Tinley Park, Karen and William Madsen of Chicago Ridge each purchased their tickets by mail, Corrie Graefen of Manhattan purchased her ticket on the Web site. Robert Romadka of New Lenox and Dawn Murray of Mokena purchased tickets from foundation board directors.

The goal to sell 6,000 tickets to give the house away was not met. However, the split-the-pot grand prize, before taxes, is $165,000. Ticket sales this year surpassed last year by 8 percent, and set a new record high for ticket sales.

"We are very pleased with this year's results," foundation executive director Linda Lopez said. "Our co-chairs provided strong leadership and creative direction. When faced with a challenge, this board responds with energy and determination. As a matter of fact, the members of our foundation board sold over 900 tickets -- the largest number in any category. Tickets sold on the Web site were a very close second, followed by our community sales locations."
