Class 8A
Where: 440 W. Aurora Ave., Naperville
Outlook: The Porters (6-3) may have lost a home game with Oct. 23's loss to Sandburg. Naperville Central (7-2) plays in the always-tough DuPage Valley Conference but is not the power it has been in the past. It could be Marist (7-2) in the second round, Fremd (9-0) in the quarterfinals for the Porters.
Class 6A
Outlook: Lemont (8-1) is the two-time defending runner-up in 6A and this time is locked into what appears to be a quality 16-team upper bracket. The Indians open against an upstart Lincoln-Way North team (6-3) that is fresh off winning the Southwest Suburban Red title and is in the playoffs for the first time. Morgan Park could be the opponent in Round 2 -- never easy -- and Rock Island (8-1) and Danville (9-0) are potential quarterfinal foes. For fans who really want to look ahead, how does a Lemont-Providence semifinal matchup sound? Taking nothing away from what Lemont has accomplished, but the road to state this time is a bit more challenging.
