Town hall meeting: The Homer/Lockport Tea Party, along with the Joliet Tea Party, is hosting a forum/town hall meeting for the community to come out and question the Illinois candidates for governor at 7 p.m. at DiNolfo's Banquet Hall, 14447 W. 159th St., Homer Glen. The purpose of this forum is to find a candidate that will represents Tea Party values and understands the organization's concerns. This forum will include questions submitted by those present to the candidates by Tea Party moderators. The meeting will end with a town hall, open microphone for the audience to question candidates. Questions can be submitted that evening or ahead of time via e-mail to homerteaparty@gmail.com.

Ladies Night Out: The Lockport School District PTO is sponsoring a Ladies' Night Out/Vendor Fair from 6 to 9 p.m. in the new gym at Kelvin Grove School, 808 Adams St., Lockport. Instead of an admission cost, please bring a nonperishable item. Also, a raffle will be conducted of products and services that have been donated by the vendors. There also will be a bake sale and beverages will be available to purchase. More than 20 vendors will be available for purchases and orders. For more information, call 708-768-7655.

Love of Art show: The Lemont Artists Guild and the Lemont Park District are sponsoring the 15th Annual Love of Art Show and Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lemont Park District, 16028 W. 127th Street, Lemont. Each year the show grows in size, attendance and quality of fine art and fine craft that is shown. Last year more than 45 artists exhibited and sold their original work in painting, ceramics, photography, woodworking, drawing, glass and jewelry fiber. Only original fine art and fine craft is allowed at this show. The show is judged by three professional artists from the Chicago area. Half of the prize winners were Lemont Artists Guild members. Many of these members have won in previous years as well, showing that they are consistently producing top quality art work. Here's an opportunity to view and purchase award-winning art created by Lemont area artists all in one location.
Ham dinner: The First United Methodist Church of Lockport's Mission Team is sponsoring a ham dinner on from 4 to 7 p.m. in Yeoman Hall, 1000 S. Washington St. Cost for adults is $10. Children ages 4 to 12 are $5 each. Children 3 years old and younger eat for free. Come and enjoy Sandy Jacobson's famous pumpkin roll for dessert. Advance tickets will be sold and will also be available at the door. Carryouts will be available. Parenting roundtable: Bridges to a New Day will sponsor a Parenting Round Table Discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. at SOS Village, 17547 Village Lane, Lockport. Experts will be available to talk about such topics as autism, anger, depression, anxiety and discipline. Food will be served at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required. S.A.L.T. Senior Expo: The Lemont chapter of Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) will have a Senior Expo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the old St. Alphonsus School, 207 E. Logan St., Lemont. There will be more than 25 exhibitors providing flu shots, glucose screenings, blood pressure screenings, stress analysis and financial reviews. Admission is free and SALT urges all seniors to attend. The Lemont chapter was established to protect and advise seniors on dangers to them as a group. The Lemont chapter was sanctioned about a year ago after signing its TRIAD with the Cook County sheriff's office, the Lemont police and the village of Lemont. The first significant effort for the Lemont S.A.L.T. group was to create a dropoff point for unused and expired prescriptions and medications.

Chili dinner: The Lemont Lions will have its annual chili dinner from noon to 5 p.m. at This Must Be The Place, 206 Main St., Lemont. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for children and can be purchased from a Lemont Lion member or at the door. In addition to chili, hot dogs and tamales will be served. The popular "meat raffle" will be held again. A limited number of paddles are sold for each raffle of steaks, chops and other meats. Winners are decided by the turn of the "wheel of fortune." Come early. Last year the Lions cooked more than 40 gallons of chili and ran out just before closing.
