Candlelight Bowl helps recreation group

November 4, 2009

Sure, the shoes look a bit goofy, and you can never find a ball that has holes drilled to your correct finger size, but hey -- isn't it fun to knock the heck out of a few urethane soldiers?

Whether you're an avid bowler or you just like helping out charitable causes, the South West Special Recreation Association has the event for you. The organization will host its annual Candlelight Bowl fundraiser from 9:30 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Orland Bowl, 8601 W. 159th St., Orland Park.

Tickets are $25 and include three or four games of bowling and a buffet dinner. Tickets for dinner only are $15. Those awesome-looking bowling shoes cost extra.

If bowling isn't your thing, the day also will feature raffles, door prizes and split-the-deck.

All proceeds will benefit the association, a nonprofit organization that provides recreation services for individuals with special needs.
