Primary filings now to Nov. 2

Candidates who will be filing petitions for the Feb. 2 general primary election are reminded that the first day to file was Monday in the Will County clerk's office, 302 N. Chicago St., County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots said.

The last day for filing is 5 p.m. Nov. 2.

Candidates who file simultaneously at 8:30 a.m. Monday will be included in a lottery to determine ballot position. Any petitions received in the first mail delivery of the first day are also included in the lottery drawing.

Candidates who filed after 8:30 a.m. on the first day shall be deemed filed in the order of actual receipt. Petitions received by mail before the first day to file will be returned.

Nomination petitions will be accepted for the following offices: county clerk, county treasurer, county sheriff, and regional superintendent of schools (four-year terms); three county board members (two-year terms) from Districts 3, 5, and 9 and one unexpired two-year term from District 8 and also petitions for the election of precinct committeemen (two-year terms).
