Bridge closed for 2 months

October 28, 2009

A two-month bridge repair project has closed eastbound Route 171 (Archer Avenue) at the Long Run Creek bridge, located just awest of 135th Street in the Lockport-Lemont-Homer Glen area, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced.

Weather permitting, here's what to expect:

• Traffic will be down to a single westbound lane over the bridge, but drivers should expect delays.

• Eastbound traffic will detour starting at New Avenue in Lockport, to Main Street in Lemont, then via Route 83/Route 171 (Cal-Sag Road).

• Local eastbound traffic will have access to the area, but will not be able to cross the bridge.

• All work is expected to be completed in December.

• All work and related closures are weather dependent.
