CHICAGO -- Still undefeated.
That's the status of the Providence Catholic High School boys volleyball team, which beat Gordon Tech 25-16, 25-10 in Chicago Catholic League playon Thursday.
Hayden Grove had 5 kills, 9 points and 3 aces for the Celtics (14-0, 6-0). Jonathan Gustafson had 23 assists and 6 points, Dan Ruzich 6 points and 6 kills, Eric Daliege 9 kills and 7 points, Matt Teske 7 points and 3 aces and Denny Falls 9 points and 2 aces.
"Jonathan Gustafson spread his sets around and did a nice job running the offense," Providence coach Cindy Olczyk said. "Eric Daliege did a great job of hitting."
Matt Phillips had 5 kills, Ryne Jacobson 4 and Scott Cook for the Indians (4-3, 4-1). Dominic Filardi posted 20 assists. Matt Omatto had 6 digs.
"We worked together and Dominic was very strong," Minooka coach Janel Burchett said. "Robert and Matt also contributed.
Plainfield North 25-25, Plainfield Central 23-12 -- At Plainfield, Kye Browning had 8 assists and Kevin Hawes 4 digs and Sean McManus 4 blocks for the Wildcats (2-12, 1-4) in the Southwest Prairie Conference match.
Oswego 25-25, Romeoville 11-15 -- At Oswego, John Villar had 8 assists for the Spartans (3-8, 1-4) in the Southwest Prairie loss. Kris Akut produced 3 kills and Ryan Pescitani had 2 kills. Sam Yi had 2 kills.
Lincoln-Way Central 25-25, Illiana Christian 12-8 -- At New Lenox, Connor Wexter had 13 assists and Brian Thorp 7 kills for the Knights. Josh Clark had 11 points and Dan Sanders 3 kills.
Other scores -- Neuqua Valley 25-25, Plainfield South 11-10.
Lockport 10, Riverside-Brookfield 6 -- At Lockport, Maggie Knowles paced the Porters with 5 goals, 3 steals and 2 assists. Rachel lardner tallied 4 goals, 2 steals and 2 assists. Jackie Bart also scored. Laura Pagles made 4 saves, Jess Lahey 2.
