Minooka girls roll past Coal City

COAL CITY -- Allison Schieffer, Kristie Covey and Rebecca Sutton each scored 2 goals as the Minooka High School girls soccer team rolled to an 8-0 victory over Coal City on Monday.

Anna Dauzvardis and Corie O'Brien also scored goals for the Indians (2-2) and April Wilke was credited with 2 saves while notching the shutout.

Girls soccer

Plainfield Central 2, Providence 0 -- At New Lenox, Nina Brinkman and Kelly Schroeder scored for the Wildcats.

Lincoln-Way East 0, Marist 0 -- At Chicago, Ali Breakey, Stephanie Sabo and Ariana Nie combined to make 6 saves for the Griffins (4-3-1).

Boys water polo

New Trier Tournament -- Lockport went 3-0 to capture the title. The Porters beat New Trier 11-7, Fremd 11-5 and McHenry 10-8.

Ryan Oldendorf had 17 goals, 3 assists, 2 blocked shots and 1 steal. Pat Cavanaugh had 8 assists, 7 steals, 2 goals and 1 blocked shot.

Michael Pedroni, Josh Libman, Larry Formosa and Joe Hernandez each scored 2 goals. Craig Targosz and Alex Webster had 2 assists.

Lockport's goalies made 28 saves. Bob Chavez and Larry Formosa led the way with 10 each. Drew Duckett added 8 saves.

Other scores -- Lincoln-Way East beats Andrew 20-12.

Girls badminton

Lockport victory count at 11 -- The Lockport girls went on the road and came back home with 1 win, 1 tie and 1 loss to add on their record.

The Porters (11-4-1) beat Buffalo Grove 6-2, tied Hinsdale Central 4-4 and lost to Hinsdale South 7-1.

Elyse Hertko, Kacie Cassidy, Connie Jacobson and Maxy Green scored singles victories in Lockport's win over Buffalo Grove. Kaitlin Brassil-Kayla Salomone and Suhani Virparic-Liz Johnson won doubles matches.

In the Porters' tie with Hinsdale Central, Jacobson and Green won singles matches. Brassil-Salomone and Ninna Baer-Cindy Donati scored victories in doubles matches.

Jen Krzyszkowski and Lindsey Polke scored Lockport's lone win vs. Hinsdale South.
