MINOOKA -- The Plainfield North High School baseball team can do very little wrong right now.

North continued its winning ways on Thursday by sweeping Minooka 4-3 and 11-8 in a Southwest Prairie Conference doubleheader. The first game was suspended by rain on Wednesday with North owning a 3-0 lead after three innings by virtue of Tim Eulitz's 3-run home run.

The Tigers (19-4, 15-0), who beat the Indians 4-1 in the opener of the three-game series, rallied back from a 7-0 deficit to take Game 2 from Minooka (16-10, 10-4).

"Sometimes I don't know how we are doing it," North coach John Darlington said. "We'll get a hit here and a hit there, then move guys along with some bunts.

"Our pitching was not as solid as it had been most of today, but Brett Evak threw well to close out the first game."

Zach Pacanowski's bases-loaded single in the fourth inning gave North a 4-0 lead in the opener. Minooka tallied 3 runs in the fifth.

In Game 1, Casey Wilgosiewicz had 2 hits for the Tigers. Minooka's Jake Butler slugged a solo homer, singled and drove in 2 runs. Mike Foltynewicz collected 2 hits and an RBI.

Brett Evak (6-1) picked up the win for North. He struck out 4, allowed 3 hits and 2 unearned runs in 4 innings.

Minooka scored 5 runs in the first inning of Game 2. The Indians added 2 more in the second to build a 7-0 lead.

But the Tigers came right back with a 7-spot in the fourth to tie the game.

"Plainfield North is a much-improved team," Minooka coach Jeff Petrovic said. "They are doing all the right things and playing very well.

"They were very clutch in the three games against us."

Pacanowski had a bases-loaded walk in North's big rally. Andrew Starks delivered a run-producing single and Jeff Paulson contributed a 2-run double. Wilgosiewicz doubled home a run and a run scored when Alex Molek reached on an error.

The Tigers then won the game by scoring 4 runs in the fifth. Brad Porter and Pacnowski had singles and Mike Klett had a sacrifice fly. Starks drove in a run with a single and Paulson walked with the bases loaded. Wilgosiewicz reached on an error which enabled another run to race home.

Pacanowski, Starks and Eulitz all had 2 hits for North in Game 2. Starks (2-0) was the winner in relief. He struck out 3 in 2 innings and allowed 1 run.

Brian Martin and Dakota Brown had 2 hits for Minooka in the nightcap. Nico Capodice, Justin Troyner and Foltynewicz drove in 2 runs for the Indians.

"We don't have any rest for the weary," Darlington said. "Lemont, Lockport and Romeoville are upcoming games, so we have to stay with it."
