OSWEGO -- The Romeoville High School boys basketball team needed a big play.
And senior Demarius Miller more than delivered for the Spartans on Friday.
Miller made a 3-point shot from the to of the key as time expired to give Romeoville a 60-57 win over Oswego East in Southwest Prairie Conference action.
Oswego East (9-10, 4-4) tied the game 67-67 on a basket by Kelly Garrigus, who had a game-high 19 points.
Garrigus' basket came with 3.6 seconds remaining.
Romeoville (9-10, 5-3) then called a timeout. The Spartans got the ball underneath Oswego East's basket.
Romeoville had to go the full length of the court.
"We have played a lot of close game this season," Romeoville coach Jeff Bambule said. "The shot was a little close at the end, but Demarius go the job done."
After the timeout, Miller, who finished with a team-high 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting, received the inbounds pass.
He dribbled three times before shooting right behind the top of the key.
Miller's shot swished and the Spartans had a hard-earned conference victory.
Romeoville owned a 46-41 lead after three quarters. The game was tied 26-all at halftime.
"Our discipline was good for the most part," Bambule said. "We showed flashes of the team that we could be. We are more than pleased with the victory, especially since it came on the road. Winning on the road like this is always great."
Romeoville senior guard Earl Bell scored 15 points. Sophomore forward Devon Hodges finished with a 11 points and 7 rebounds.
