Plainfield North High School basketball player Reggie Lemon finds himself in some impressive company.
The 5-foot-8 Lemon, a senior point guard for the Tigers, has been named the winner of the annual A.C. Williamson Memorial Trophy. The award is given to the MVP of the Pontiac Holiday Tournament.
Lemon helped North (13-2) to a third-place finish in the 78th annual Pontiac Tournament. The Tigers went 3-1, including a quarterfinal win over Waukegan.
Lemon and the Tigers defeated Chicago Curie 41-38 in the third-place game.
Previous winners of the A.C. Williamson Award include Providence Catholic's Walter Downing, Joliet Township's Roger Powell Jr., Lockport's Alando Tucker and the Bulls' Derrick Rose from Simeon.
Girls basketball
Gardner-South Wilmington 67, Trinity Academy 30 -- At Gardner, the Panthers (10-7) built a 38-10 halftime lead and coasted to the nonconference victory. Junior Kellie Tyler had 19 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Rachel Mack added 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Women's basketball
Rockhurst (Mo.) 90, Lewis 77 -- At Kansas City, Mo., Lewis (6-6, 2-1) placed four players in double figures but dropped the GLVC decision. Freshman Devon Carbaugh finished with 27 points and shot 10-of-14. Jenny Turpel had 21 points and 11 rebounds while Kady Currin added 11 points and Kelly Monaco had 12 points on 4 3-pointers.
Girls bowling
Plainfield North Tournament -- At AMF Lanes, Plainfield Central's Tricia Zimmerman placed seventh with a 786 series and high game of 233.
