The Chicago Curie High School football team is still searching for that elusive first state playoff victory.
Bolingbrook, a No. 1 seed in Class 8A, made sure that the Condors' playoff futility would continue on Friday.
The Raiders built a 34-0 halftime lead and coasted to a 62-13 first-round victory over the Condors (5-5). The loss put Curie's all-time playoff record at 0-15.
Bolingbrook (10-0) now advances to a second-round game at Hinsdale Central, which beat Downers Grove South 46-12.
Statistics sometimes don't tell the whole truth, but the first-half stats in this mismatch certainly did.
The Raiders amassed 335 first-half yards, compared to 90 for Curie, which gained 57 passing yards on one play. The Condors rushed for a negative 1 yard on 7 carries.
Bolingbrook, on the other hand, rushed for 156 yards on 19 carries, a robust 8.2 yards per carry average. John Seigler rushed for 63 yards on 6 carries, while Jamel Martin gained 56 yards on just 6 attempts.
Seigler finished with 100 yards on the ground in only 8 carries. Martin had a game-high 104 yards in 8 tries.
"It is difficult for teams to focus on just one of our individuals offensively," Bolingbrook coach John Ivlow said. "I was impressed with our offense. Brad Geever keeps getting better every week at quarterback. He played another good game tonight."
Geever, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound junior, guided the Raiders to 522 yards. He completed 12-of-16 passes for 213 yards and 1 score.
Ivlow began to substitute in the second half. He took Geever out of the game with 8:30 remaining in the third quarter and Bolingbrook leading 41-7.
Bolingbrook's defense limited Curie to only 122 yards. That total included just 12 yards rushing on 14 carries.
The Raiders, on the other hand, rushed for 309 yards on 33 carries (a 9.4 average).
"Defensively, we hit them hard and early in the game," Ivlow said. "We knew that Curie was here to win the game and so were we.
"We wanted to set the tone and let Curie know that we were also here. I think we did that in this game."
The Raiders scored began scoring with 6:32 remaining in the first quarter. Geever capped a 9-play, 68-yard drive with a 21-yard touchdown run.
That would be the only first-quarter score for the Raiders, who built a 34-0 lead in the second quarter.
Bolingbrook's first score in the second quarter was a 15-yard TD burst by Seigler with 9:28 remaining in the half. One of the big plays in the 7-play, 62-yard touchdown march was a 29-yard pass from Geever to Chris Williams.
The Raiders' Marcus Daniels then intercepted a Curie pass at the Condors' 11. Two plays later, martin scored from 6 yards to make it 21-0.
Geever threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Malcolm Jackson with 6:34 left to increase the Raiders' margin to 28-0.
Martin's 15-yard touchdown run made it 34-0 with 3:49 left in the first half.
The Raiders owned a 55-7 lead after three quarters.
"We have taken one step towards our goal," Ivlow said. "Tomorrow, we will watch some film and try to rectify the mistakes we made in this game.
"Hinsdale Central is a very good team. We will have our hands full. It should be a good game."
