LaSALLE -- The Class 3A Joliet Township High School boys golf regional should be among the state's best. The field will feature such powerhouses as Lincoln-Way East, Providence Catholic, Lockport and Neuqua Valley.

Three of those team were featured at Saturday's LaSalle-Peru Invitational. The Griffins and Providence shot 299, but East won with a fifth-score tiebreaker. East's Dan Petrarca shot a 73, Brian Bullington had a 74, Chris Holley finished with a 75 and Tim Huizenga carded a 77. Adam Sajewich's 79 was the deciding score.

Lincoln-Way Central was 13th in the LaSalle-Peru Invitational with a score of 328. Central's Rick Palonis shot a 76 to tie for 18th. Other scorers for the Knights were Ryan Carney (82), Will Knights (82) and Trevor Burton (88) and Nick Foglton (88).

Boys golf
Peotone wins -- At the Grant Park Invite, the Blue Devils shot a 328 at Minnie Monesse to edge Reed-Custer (331) in the nine-team field. The Comets' Tyler Rickets shot a 78 and placed fourth. Kyle Maca fired an 82 and was seventh. Other Reed-Custer scorers included Corey Turner (85) and Ed Keenan (86).
Boys soccer
Joliet Township 2, Providence Catholic 0 -- At Joliet, Mike Vertin made 4 saves for his 20th career save for JT. Ulises Ornelas and Dan Martinez scored goals.

Lockport 2, Lemont 1 -- At Lemont, the Porters (13-1-0) won for a 12th straight time. Ryan Turner and Bob Novak scored goals. Nick Miller and Raul Vigil added assists. Brian Quane made 7 saves.

Minooka 8, Rich Central 0 -- At Minooka, Eric Orndorf scored 2 goals for the Indians (3-12) in the nonconference win. Also scoring goals were Jake Popek, Sam Miranda, Ralph Magdaleno, Brian Falvey, Tony Velazquez and Dan Popek. Andy Pieczynski recorded the shutout.

JCA 4, Montini 3 -- At Lombard, Mitch Cunnea, Antonio Alvarez, Zak Roderick and Tommy Wooten scored goals for the Hilltoppers (6-6-3). Mike Williams made 8 stops.

Eisenhower 2, Lincoln-Way Central 1 -- At Blue Island, the nonconference loss puts the Knights' record at 5-10-2.

Girls tennis
Lincoln-Way East wins quad -- At Fankfort, the Griffins won their quadrangular with 15 first-place points. In the process, East (19-1), which defeated Illiana Christian, Shepard and Reavis, established a single-season school record for tennis victories. East's Leah Pascarella was 3-0 at No. 1 singles, as was Lix Exo at No. 2 singles. Allie Fish-Lauren Casey were perfect at No. 1 singles, while Tara Casey-Leah Fuessel and Suzy Allen-Julie Schwartz were 3-0 at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.
Girls swimming
Lemont wins -- At the Leyden Invitational, the Indians won the five-team championship with 270 points. The 100 butterfly relay of Melanie Waszak and Danielle Schumacher won in 55.99. Waszak, Schumacher, Caroline Ratulowski and Katie Callaghan won the 400 freestyle realy (3:55.51), while the same foursome won the 200 free relay (1:47.35).
Girls tennis
Lemont takes 2nd -- At the Oswego Tournament, the Indians finished second behind Geneva in the four-team field. The Indians beat Oswego 3-2 and downed East Aurora 5-0. Lemont dropped a 4-1 decision to Geneva.
Men's soccer
Trinity 1, USF 0 -- At Joliet, Trinity broke a scoreless deadlock in the 54th minute and went on to blank the Saints (1-9, 0-5) at Galowich YMCA. USF matched Trinity with 6 shots on goal, led by 2 each from sophomore David Orapeza and senior Ben Miller. Redshirt freshman keeper Bobby Markatos made 5 saves.
Women's soccer
Trinity Christian 5, USF 0 -- At Joliet, USF (2-7, 1-3) received 21 saves from Katelyn Skof.
