NEW LENOX -- It was a different day, but the results were the same for the Joliet Township High School boys soccer team.
Senior forward Andy McKanna scored 2 goals Thursday, leading JT to a 2-0 victory over Providence Catholic in the Windy City Ram Classic. McKanna contributed 4 goals during Tuesday's 6-0 tournament victory over Tinley Park for the Steelmen (2-0).
Juan Mascote and Jose Ocegueda added assists. Senior Mike Vertin made 2 saves for his 17th career shutout.
"We're young, but the season is very early," JT coach Eduardo Contreras said. "But this is a nice start nonetheless."
JT plays either Bloom or Joliet Catholic Academy at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Burbank Reavis in another tournament game.
Lemont 161, Argo 191 -- At Cog Hill No. 1, Nick Szerzinski shot a 39 to lead the Indians (3-0). Also scoring for Lemont were Kyle Cyr (40), Luke Hinchley (40) and Shane Purtle (42).
Reed-Custer 151, Dwight 164 -- At Silver Oaks, the Tyler Ricketts shot a 2-under-par 34 to pace the Comets (4-0, 3-0) to the Interstate Eight Conference win. Cory Turner shot an even-par 36, Kyle Maca had 40 and Jake Evans shot 41. The 151 is a school record.
Dwight's Logan Krople shot 37, Mike Halloran had 39, and Steven Balderas and Pat Murphy had 44s.
Sandburg 146, Lincoln-Way Central 151 -- At Silver Lakes, Rick Palonis led the Knights (0-4, 0-2) with a 1-under-par 34. He was medalist in the Southwest Suburban Blue match.
Other scorers for Central were Ryan Carney (37), Matt Krzczowski (39) and Chris Ojermark (41).
Other scores -- Plainfield South 158, Yorkville 162.
Minooka 218, Plainfield North 250 -- At the Bolingbrook Country Club, Amanda Cappel shot 47 and Megan Kezerle had 53 for the Indians. Sam Gewalt shot 57 and Jordan King had 61.
Pacing North with a 49 was Kelsey Marshall. Other scores for the Tigers were Baylie Gee (61), Jessica Rinehart (66) and Lauren Turado (74) and Lauren Halsten (74).
