Providence volleyball rebounds, takes down Plainfield S.
NEW LENOX -- The Providence Catholic High School boys volleyball rebounded Tuesday after suffering its first defeat the night before.
The Celtics topped Plainfield South 25-15, 25-10 in nonconference play. On Monday, Providence (24-1) fell to Wheaton St. Francis in three games.
Jonathan Gustafson had 16 assists, 7 points, 3 blocks and 2 kills for Providence. Eric Daliege had 6 kills, 3 blocks, 4 aces and 11 points while Ryan Surico had 7 digs, 2 kills, 7 points and 2 aces. Dan Ruzich posted 6 kills, 10 digs and 4 points and Joey Swinek had 8 points.
"We did a good job of serving and passing," Providence coach Cindy Olczyk said. "Surico and Swintek gave us some good serves. Ruzich and Surico played solid defense while Gustafson got the ball to our middles tonight."
Other scores -- Oak Forest 25-25, Lemont 10-20.
Neuqua Valley 7, Plainfield South 1 -- Emily Tarlini made 17 saves for South (5-14-0) in the nonconference loss. The game was shortened due to lightning.
Larry Warren, Bill Hartley, Vaughn Whitfield and Larry Tallarita were third with a 145. They won $25 gift certificates.
