Robbers strike Frankfort Burger King

FRANKFORT -- Police in Frankfort are looking for two armed men who robbed a Burger King on Wednesday.

The robbery occurred about 10:35 p.m. at the Burger King located near the intersection of LaGrange Road and Colorado Avenue in Frankfort.

The pair displayed a gun as they approached an employee who was standing outside the restaurant, then led her back inside and demanded money, police said. The robbers then fled on foot west across LaGrange Road and possibly entered a late-model, dark blue or black Dodge Caravan and went south on LaGrange Road, police said.

Three employees were in the restaurant at the time. The dining room was closed, but the drive-through was open. No one was injured, police said.

The first robber was described as a black male with light skin and pockmarks under his eyes. He was between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black or blue bandanna and a black 'do rag.

The second robber is described as a black male with dark skin, of similar height and build, wearing a dark winter mask and a dark 'do rag or hat.

Both men were wearing black pants, black shirts and black Nike shoes.

Anyone with information should contact the Frankfort Police Department investigations division at (815) 469-9435.

Crikey! Alligator spotted in Lake Renwick

Once in a while something interesting shows up in Lake Renwick. Earlier this month, pelicans paid a visit. Saturday morning, bird watchers spotted an alligator lurking among the herons in the rookery. The 4-foot American alligator was also seen Monday morning by Will County Forest Preserve staff.
