Police Blotter

November 10, 2009

JOLIET -- Police say a purse-snatcher failed to make a clean getaway Sunday.

Security at Harrah's Casino called police around 9:30 a.m. after a man grabbed a woman's purse as she was walking between the casino and a parking deck, Deputy Chief Mike Trafton said.

"We sent several officers to blanket the area and they spotted a man matching the offender's description going into the Plaza Hotel," he said.

Officers reportedly found out what room the suspect had gone into and spoke with the woman staying there who allowed them to search it.

" Eric K. Noble , 23, was hiding in the shower," Trafton said. The victim's purse was found nearby.

Noble, of 8800 S. Harlem Ave. in Bridgeview, was arrested and booked into the county jail on a charge of theft.

Bad choice for thieves?

JOLIET -- A gray 1995 Pontiac was stolen between 12:30 and 2 a.m. Monday from an alley off the 1400 block of Prairie Avenue.

According to reports, the victim told police he left the vehicle unlocked because it "overheats while driving, is in poor running condition and probably didn't go very far."
