November 7, 2009

SHOREWOOD -- A 47-year-old man faces three felony counts of false personation of a peace officer.

Shorewood police said Friday they executed a search warrant in the 900 block of Summit Creek Drive.

Police arrested Stanley l. Grzesiak , of 936 Summit Creek Drive.

Police said they discovered numerous items -- including firearms, badges, police jackets and fictitious business cards -- to support the charges.

Two jailed in burglary

LOCKPORT -- Police responded Wednesday to the 500 block of 17th Street to a reported disturbance involving a neighbor confronting two suspicious subjects over alleged stolen property.

Upon arrival, the complaining neighbor had claimed that a child's backpack in the possession of Robert Szymanski , 19, and a juvenile belonged to her child. Upon the officers further inquiring into the origin of the bag and its contents, the officers became suspicious when they found various items, including loose jewelry, DVDs and a laptop computer.

Both Szymanski and the juvenile were brought back to police headquarters where they were questioned by Lockport investigators. After obtaining the true owner's information from the laptop computer files, the owner who had not yet discovered the burglary to her residence was contacted and identified the computer, jewelry and DVDs as being stolen from her home in the 500 block of East 11th Street.

Police said Szymanski and the juvenile confessed to the burglary and were booked into the Will County jail and River Valley Detention Center accordingly.
