Social Security freeze wrong

Isn't it great that our wonderful government can't give an increase to seniors on Social Security but can give themselves a several percent raise, and now they're thinking of giving $500 to each newborn in the United States? This, of course, will also cover children that are born to illegals in this country because if they have a baby in this country, they are considered to be American citizens. Something is very wrong in Washington if they can't take care of the seniors that have supported this country for most of their lives.

Health care not a right for us

Robert Gibbs, President Obama's press secretary, said the president has to take into consideration the cost of fighting the war in Afghanistan. There's no similar talk about health care. Keeping this country safe and protecting its citizens is the No. 1 job. Health care is not a right; it's a good to be purchased. Being protected is a right.

Give us legislators' insurance

I'm calling about Thelma Lawson's OpenLine comment. I have good insurance. I pay for it every month. I've always had insurance. She stated that those complaining do not. This is totally wrong. And I'd like to know why if the insurance is so good, which the elected officials want us to have, why don't they have it? They do have great insurance, far better than anything we have. I think if it's good enough for us, it should be good enough for them.

U.S. flag means blood, sweat

I'm calling about the ways people display foreign flags. The American flag -- the good old red, white and blue -- came from a lot of blood, sweat, guts and dying in foreign lands trying to maintain a way of peace and prosperity. Those who choose to fly their own country's flag in America need to remember that without America they wouldn't have the freedom to fly their own country's flag.
