Watch your assets go

Some OpenLine callers think that if health care is passed, they won't have to worry about financial assets. That's true because you won't have any. You know progressive Democrats are oppressive. If you choose not to have insurance, you will be fined. Some choice. I was a divorced parent of a special needs child with only a high school education. I received no child support, but the thought of running to the government for food stamps or health care never entered my mind. Why? My child, my life, my responsibility.

Women just as strong

This is in response to the viewpoint in the paper today about keeping police women off the beat. Female police officers are just as qualified as men. They have to perform the same duties as men. They're just as strong. They're just as capable. And remember, they carry guns.

Stop babying criminals

I'm calling about the OpenLine comment on keeping women off the police beat. A male officer was beat up a couple months before that woman officer. It doesn't matter. We should stop babying these criminals. If they're going to attack a police officer, shoot first, ask later.

Anger comes from story

I'm calling about two articles in The Herald-News. One was about the lady getting beat and thrown down the stairs. And another was the column that said to stop and resist your anger. How can you resist your anger when stuff like this beating is going on?

Socialism part of U.S.

More than 200 years ago, our founding fathers said we shall be a democracy. Our government shall always put our people first by providing programs that shall protect and benefit our people and their communities. They said we shall have a government-run justice system with socialized police and law enforcement, government-run courts with socialized judges all the way up to our socialized Supreme Court. We shall provide a socialized military to protect our people. We shall provide for the general welfare of the country and its future generations. That statement covers all socialized Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and all social programs we have today. This paragraph is 100 percent socialism and is also our preamble, an outline of our Constitution.

Good work by Okon

What a great job Bob Okon has done on his series in regard to the insurance savings for the city of Joliet. The informative, analytical data supplied is definitely helpful in keeping tabs on our elected officials. Way to go, Bob.

Old thinking wrong

I am responding to Chris Armano's OpenLine call regarding the woman police officer who was hurt in a domestic call and hospitalized. He is using old-school thinking. I think the officer was attacked from behind and did not see her attacker. I hope she's doing much better.
