How many times do the American people think someone should run for Congress? Don't you think 25, 30 or 40 years being in Congress is too long? It's time to put fresh blood in there. When the president can run for two terms, why does somebody in Congress have to spend 40 or 50 years? I think in the upcoming elections, the American people need to take a new view.

How fiscally responsible is the Crest Hill mayor and city council in allowing the Crest Hill Police Department to now have a chief, two deputy chiefs and two investigators, all of whom take home squad cars every night out of the city? In addition, the city has four sergeants but there are only 16 patrolmen for a city of 18,000. Can a Crest Hill resident really feel safe with a top-heavy administration and only a few officers on the streets?

This is for the big shots about street repairs. Suppose some of the politicians in Joliet had big potholes on their streets. Would they be on the short list or would they get the work done right away because they were so-called higher-ups dealing with the money of the taxpayers? The city supposedly doesn't have enough money. But what would it be like if I had everybody's money in my bank account and what would I do with it? Would I treat it as somebody else's money or would I look upon it as my own to do whatever I wanted to do with it?

The people of Joliet need to respect people who cross the street in pedestrian crossings. I had an issue walking my dog going south on Midland Avenue and crossing Glenwood Avenue. I almost got hit by a car. The woman was turning right on red. She did not see me. If I did not hit her car with my hand, she would have hit me.

With all the problems of shootings, killings and beatings occurring in Chicago with very little if any control on crime in that city, perhaps it's time to call in the National Guard. Maybe it would be a good idea to get rid of the current police superintendent because he doesn't seem to be doing too much to help the situation. Also, the city needs to work with the judges to start putting some heavy penalties on these people that are committing crimes. Like maybe a five-year mandatory sentence for committing any crime with a gun.

Barack Obama appoints the czars without the approval of Congress for about six figures for each appointee. This is how Adolf Hitler got started -- appointing just close people that he needed. This is also done at the expense of senior citizens on Medicare. No cost-of-living increases in 2010 or 2011 are in sight. But the amount of deductions taken out from Medicare is going to increase. We are getting shorted on everything.

I feel bad for that female Joliet police officer who was body slammed and injured. Some women might say equal rights for women, but we must consider a man is more powerful in 99.9 percent of cases. A woman should not walk the beat and face such dangers as having to deal with a man.
