Comments unpresidential

I listened to President Barack Obama's speech at the United Nations and he very unpresidentially said that he was not George W. Bush. And he's right. Bush loved this country, and Obama seems to have an unabated malevolence toward it.

No response from Harper

I'm responding to the Guest View by Plainfield School Superintendent John Harper. While I agree that the school district is doing great, Harper has never responded to comments I've made in the past concerning his salary and raises that he received last year. One sentence in his article says we as a community and country continue to deal with tough economic times. Well, part of that is right. The community has dealt with tough economic times, but Harper has not. He accepted a huge raise. The man makes more than $200,000 a year. What is his response?

Health plan not good for seniors

Don't believe anyone's opinion on the health care reform plan currently in Congress that pertains to senior citizens. Of course, if you are computer literate, you can go on the Internet and go over these thousand-plus pages, plus the 600 amendments that they're proposing. So far what they're showing is not senior citizen- friendly. Congress is still talking about cutting our benefits, cutting Medicare, and it is -- from what I can read -- not a good plan for seniors.

'Down with Obamacare'

Good for OpenLine caller Doug Redmond. It's a shame we don't have many people in Washington that will listen to us about our Social Security. And for Louis Lagger, socialism does not have a place in the democratic society. In World War II, the battle cry was "Remember Pearl Harbor." The battle cry now should be "Don't do Obamacare." Down with socialism.
