I'll always carry God's message
I feel like an open book. I feel like I know you and shared my life with you, but with time comes change. With the new format of The Herald-News, the Common Sense columnists are being asked by management to focus on local matters.
That is exactly what I have to do, God willing. I will now have to defer my writing specialty about "life" to talk about what's happening local, with a local perspective or a local touch.
I meditated a lot about this change and even talked to my divine advisor and we come back with the same question. How much local can I get if I talk about real life experiences that people can relate to? But we all have a boss, and whatever the boss says we'll do.
I understand about localizing a story. However, I have found my calling to write about life experiences to provide hope and faith in the difficult times many readers are facing now. I feel that is my mission.
There are many local views on news, politics and sports. And many other very similar things people can read and talk about everywhere they go, online, TV or print. But I strongly feel there are not enough things to help people going through the many challenges and adversities in life.
For that reason, while I want to continue as a Common Sense columnist, I probably will have to move forward with God's direction.
In the meantime, bless all of you for this wonderful opportunity you have given me to write and share about my life experiences. If you don't share what you have learned in life to others what good is the suffering, the pain and sorrow?
I've shared with you all my life and this change is no exception. If I continue writing, hopefully it would be with my home editor and devoted wife Maricela, whose favorite verse in the Bible is from St. Paul. "For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Corinthians 12:10).
As this book closes and another one opens, we hope to inspire in some other way. With faith there is always a way if you carry God's message.
This Thanksgiving month I would like to thank you for reading the columns both my wife and I have enjoyed sharing with you. I know my column dates have been expanded recently and are all scheduled thru 2010, but it's really up to management ... and in my case upper management.
You know I also have a boss, the real author of my columns, God.
