Group's auction raises $82,000
FRANKFORT -- The Frankfort School District Education Foundation has reached a fundraising milestone.
The organization's recent dinner auction raised approximately $82,000 and its new Fund-a-Project netted $23,000, putting its annual fundraising total at $105,000.
The funds raised annually provide grants for the schools to benefit the students.
Some 300 people attended the "Education Rocks" dinner auction, bidding on items donated by area businesses and community members. Some of the auction items generating high bids included a "KC and the Sunshine Band" party at CD & ME for $1,850, a beach house in North Carolina for $3,025 and a stay at the Hard Rock Hotel with tickets to a Broadway play for $600.
The school auction item of the opportunity for a child to become "Principal for a Day" totaled $975 at all schools.
Foundation President Judy Arseneau was pleased at reaching the new fundraising level.
"We so appreciate the generous support of the community, local businesses and the parents of District 157C," she said. "Their attendance and participation at the dinner auction made this our most successful year yet."
Superintendent Robert J. Madonia commended the foundation for its efforts, saying, "This is such a hardworking organization, and its members are continually looking for new and innovative ways to enhance their fundraising efforts.
"Their new Fund-a-Project program gives local corporations the opportunity to directly fund projects at the school and be recognized for their efforts within the community. The students and staff are always the benefactors of the foundation's hard work."
Established in 1995, the foundation has the mission to engage in the attraction, management and dissemination of money and resources for nonmandated and enrichment programs within the district. The annual dinner auction is its major fundraiser for the year.
