JOLIET -- The Will County Audubon Society will present a program, "My Life with the American Kestrel," at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the Barber-Oberwortmann Horticultural Center, 227 N. Gouger Road.

A brief social time will precede the program.

The American kestrel is a common rural and suburban bird that is the smallest and most common breeding hawk in Illinois.

The society meets at 7:15 p.m. the second Thursday of each month, except for June, July, August and December, at the Pilcher Park Nature Center.

Little Miss Black Joliet
JOLIET -- Young ladies between the ages of 7 and 11 years old are invited to compete for the title of Little Miss Black Joliet Queen 2010.

Register at Mount Zion Full Gospel Tabernacle, 351 N. Ottawa St., at 3-5 p.m. today, Nov. 14 and Nov. 21.

Organizers also are looking for male escorts ages 7-12 and special girls and boys ages 5-6.
