Educator awarded for fire safety

October 30, 2009

MINOOKA -- Cindy Wilson, fire and life safety education coordinator for Channahon and Minooka fire protection districts, received the New Horizons Award from the Illinois Fire Inspectors Association.

The award is granted to a public educator with less than three years in fire and life safety education and who is actively involved and making a difference in their department's public education efforts. The recipient is recognized for finding and developing new programs or making an existing program better through their dedication and attention to details.

Wilson was nominated for her work in serving two jurisdictions.

The Channahon -- Minooka Partnership has been in place since 2002. The partnership has grown through the years to include a more expanded prevention bureau partnership between the two districts.
