Crest Hill seeks flood input from property owners

CREST HILL -- The city is asking residents and business owners to fill out a flooding questionnaire if they experience reoccurring flooding at their property. The questionnaire is available in the lobby at City Hall or on the Web site.

"It will be used for is a tool for internal planning purposes with Robinson Engineering and city staff as the storm water citywide study moves forward," said City Administrator John Tomasoski.

In other village news

• Police Chief Dwayne Wilkerson reported that the police department monitored Jasmine Drive between Carnation Drive and Morning Glory Lane to see if additional stop signs were needed. After evaluating the area, Wilkerson suggested a stop sign at the intersection of Jasmine and Lotus and the council approved


• There will be an informational meeting regarding the Lockport High School referendum at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at City Hall in Crest Hill. Citizens are encouraged to attend to voice opinions, make suggestions and help with solutions


• Mayor Ray Soliman wrote a letter to the post master of the Joliet Post Office after it was brought to his attention "approximately 32 businesses with the city of Crest Hill limits, mostly on the border south of Renwick Road, west of Route 53, north of Caton Farm Road and west of Weber Road that have Lockport, Illinois 60441 mailing addresses." Soliman feels that everyone within city limits should have Crest Hill mailing addresses. There are concerns that the city is missing out on sales tax money on these addresses that are marked with Lockport addresses. The city administrator and the mayor have met with the post master and submitting this formal request is the next step


• Alderman Tom Inman and Alderman Charles Convery of the economic development committee received approval to join the Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce. The cost is $540 per year, and will provide great networking opportunities and create strong contacts to help with the economic development in Crest Hill
