Readers select the area's most annoying intersections
We've all been there.
It doesn't matter if you're having a great day, or you've been working on calming breathing in yoga class, or even if you're rocking out to the radio.
You hit one of those intersections, and you're at a standstill.
That's fine for two, three, even five minutes, but soon the red light has you seeing red.
Even the green light can't save you, because this intersection seems to magically turn all other drivers into idiots.
And it's road construction season, so even when the pavement's clear and the light is green, you end up staring into the eyes of some poor IDOT worker who is holding a stop sign. And she obviously isn't happy about being in the intersection either.
It's enough to drive you mad.
But misery loves company, so we've found out which local intersections earn the most ire from our readers.
Who knows, maybe this will lead to fixes for a calmer commute.
Till then, sit back and find out if your most-hated intersections are on the list -- just don't do it at a red light. It annoys the rest of us.
They have been doing construction for way too long. They closed the intersection for about a week and then haven’t done anything for a long time. It is extremely annoying due to the fact that they made Caton Farm Road one lane before and after the intersection.
Try traveling down this going to and from work every day and you would definitely get annoyed. I wish they could open up both lanes and then close them again when they decide to come back and work on that intersection. Instead, no work is being done at that intersection and the traffic backup is terrible.

The absolute worst intersection in the area has to be Route 59 and Caton Farm Road at rush hour. As a matter of fact, most intersections going to Route 59 are a traffic mess!
~Jean Stanford
It has been under construction forever, and you just cannot believe the traffic.

The intersection is very annoying between 4 and 6 in the afternoon. The timing is such that only a few cars can pass Larkin traveling on Black Road, which leads to massive backups on Black Road.

I go west on Black Road every Thursday morning in the summer for my golf league at Inwood. I also go that way a lot during the week to get to Jefferson, Essington and Route 59. My pet peeve is, there is a “no right turn” sign to go north on Larkin. Every time I am there someone goes through anyway. I have gone so far as to call 911 for this, and they asked me if I would press charges if they stop them. Why should I have to take time out of my busy day to press charges? Another time a young girl came up on my right side and started to go. I blew my horn and she looked. I pointed to the sign and she smiled and nodded her head. She did wait. I asked the 911 girl why they don’t put a camera at that site. They might as well take that sign down if they aren’t going to enforce it. Thank you for letting me speak my piece.

Larkin and Black Road going west: There is a sign posted on the light pole that reads, “No right turn on red.” I have watched cars and trucks just blow through the light; others stop but then go through, after a few accidents you would think people would obey the sign. They don’t and that is why we have people running into each other. Today as I waited for the light to change a police car went right through the sign. If more tickets were given for going through the light it might make people think a little and obey the signs.

Hands down Weber Road and I-55 has to be the worst. Poor planning, poor execution and no real fix in place. I live 1.5 miles from it and will drive several miles out of my way to avoid it. I nearly cried when they closed Veterans Parkway/Luther Drive to rebuild. It took out a major work-around to Bolingbrook.
