Poodle skirts suggested for '50s dachshund mixer

May 6, 2008

The Suburban Chicagoland Dachshund Lovers (SCDL) group will have a '50s-style sock hop, "Rock Around the Dachs," from 1 to 4 p.m. May 18 at Alfie's Poochie Playlot, 19418 S. 97th Ave., suite 1, in Mokena.

Fifties-style attire by both dogs and humans is encouraged.

This will be the first time the nearly 2-year-old SCDL group has met in the south suburbs.

"This is a great opportunity for dachshunds and their owners to meet others from throughout the area for socialization and to learn more about the breed," said Patti Triola, SCDL founder.

Dachshunds and dachshund mixes, their friends and families are invited to the gathering.

Admission is $4 for each dachshund.

Humans and dachshunds being fostered for a rescue group are admitted free. Registration is required.

To register, contact Patti at (847) 949-8455 or e-mail patpt1@sbcglobal.net. For more information, visit the SCDL Web site, www.SuburbanChicagolandDachshundLovers.com.
