April 24 deadline

Cats, dogs for adoption: Another semester is drawing to a close at JJC Vet Tech and they have cats and dogs available for adoption. They need to find new homes before April 25. There are six kittens who are 8 weeks old. Call (815) 280-2766 or e-mail jwalters@jjc.edu.

May 1 Deadline

Help Save Pets: 8:30 p.m. May 3, Wine and Cheese by TCC, 603 W. Lockport St., Plainfield. Sponsored by Help Save Pets (Humane Society of Plainfield). Admission is $20. Sample wine and cheese while raising money to save animals' lives. Reservation deadline is May 1. May 10

Pet expo: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 10, Tinley Park Convention Center. Event includes rescue societies and pet food suppliers. Admission is free for children younger than 12 and $4 for adults. Entertainment will include demonstrations by Cold Blooded Creatures, a pet cover search contest and parrot demonstrations by Ollie's. There will be a giveaway for a $500 shopping spree and trip for four to a Florida resort.

Adoptathon and garden sale: Noon to 4:30 p.m. May 10, Will County Humane Society, 24109 W. Seil Road, Shorewood. During this year's event, we'd like to find homes for our many furry friends at the shelter. There will be a variety of flowering plants and vegetables in pots and flats for sale.
