Trooper living with a foster family

Trooper the dog was doing well enough last week to go home with his foster mom.

However, the pit bull mix whose plight was written about last week in The Ark is still healing. He has a lung infection that is being treated with antibiotics.

Trooper's foster mom Liz Bagley, founder and president of Making a Difference Rescue, has outfitted him with a stylish T-shirt that keeps him from licking his many wounds. He received more than 100 stitches.

His healing is going well, Bagley said, noting he does not have to go back to the vet's office until week's end to have the stitches removed.

Bagley, of Channahon, said she's waiting to see his personality come out.

"We're trying to get him better so we can figure out what kind of home he needs to be in."

So far, though, Trooper is settling in with his foster family. Over the weekend he spent time outside with the adult children of the foster family. In fact, he has been wagging his tail.
