April 24 deadline
Adoption: Another semester is drawing to a close at JJC Vet Tech and they have cats and dogs available for adoption. They need to find new homes before April 25. There are six kittens who are 8 weeks old. Call (815) 280-2766 or e-mail jwalters@jjc.edu.
May 1 Deadline
Emergency wine tasting: 8:30 p.m. May 3, Wine and Cheese by TCC, 603 W. Lockport St., Plainfield. Sponsored by Help Save Pets (Humane Society of Plainfield). Admission is $20. Sample wine and cheese while raising money to save animal's lives. Reservation deadline is May 1. To make a reservation, send a check to: THSP/Wine Tasting, c/o KVS, 500 Bob Blair Road, Minooka, Ill. 60447. Provide a phone number or e-mail address to get reservation confirmation.
May 10
Pet expo: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 10, Tinley Park Convention Center. Event includes rescue societies and pet food suppliers. Information available on raw food diet. Entertainment will include demonstrations by Cold Blooded Creatures, a pet cover search contest, and parrot demonstrations by Ollie's. There will be a giveaway for a $500 shopping spree. Seven-week puppy kindergarten: 6 p.m. May 14, Francis 4-H Field Building in New Lenox. Sponsored by All Breed Dog Training. For puppies 8 weeks to 5 months old. Classes are one hour long. Contact Tanya Mikolajczyk at (815) 469-8741.

Parade sponsors: New Lenox Community Park District is seeking sponsors and or donations for the second annual pet parade and costume event July 26. The parade is part of the community's Proud American Days festival, which runs July 24-27. For more information, call (815) 485-1737.
