Local options for celebrating with mom

May 9, 2008

When I think about what rings home to me, more times than not it's Mom.

Whether it's a famous meal that over-the-top party, or just great times spent hanging out, Mom is at the center.

That's why there's no question when it comes to this week, let's celebrate Mom, Around Joliet!

With a few days left, you can still plan a great day for Mom (if you haven't already) because of the great activities specifically tailored to her!

For the mom who loves to reminisce about the days gone by or is a bit of a history buff, the Joliet Area Historical Museum is a perfect stop to tour, discover and remember. And even better, this Sunday admission is free.

Also, don't forget to stroll through the gift shop for whatever you like, from Route 66 gear to paintings, books and more.

The museum will be open from noon to 5 p.m. and is located at 204 N. Ottawa St. in downtown Joliet.

For more information visit www.jolietmuseum.org or call (815) 723-5201.

Just next door to the museum, call ahead to reserve a spot for the classic Mother's Day Brunch at the Joliet Junior College Renaissance Center.

Visit the Renaissance Center for chef-carved entrees, artistic salads, ornate desserts and more.

Prepared by the expert chef's of the JJC culinary arts program, the meal even includes chilled champagne, perfect for toasting mom's special day.

Mother's Day Brunch will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information or to make reservations visit www.rencen.info or call (815) 280-1404.

I always smile when I hear "home is where your mom is." This is so true!

So this weekend express your gratitude with open arms and experience the delights of Mother's Day, Around Joliet.
