Tickets still available for hospice fashion show in Joliet
Joliet Area Community Hospice Guild is returning to the location of its first Puttin' on the Glitz fundraiser -- the Joliet Junior College Renaissance Center, 214 N. Ottawa St. in downtown Joliet.
Although this year marks the 25th anniversary of the event, the clothing for the annual fashion show by Hansen's Villa in Manhattan will be modern. "What goes on, it keeps coming around again," said organizer Mohra Gavankar. "All the classic designs are coming back again."
For example, long skirts are coming back. And, Gavankar said, hats have never gone out of fashion, but many women are not brave enough to wear them.
Betty Hansen, owner of Hansen's Villa, said hats are medium in popularity this year, although they never really go out of style.
Two popular trends that are incorporated into this year's fashion show are capes and vests.
The cape featured in the photo at right has a detachable fur collar, which makes it more versatile. Vests and capes cycle around in the fashion world because some people have not had a chance to wear them.
In addition, harem pants are popular this year.
To get a full dose of the latest fashion trends, you can still get tickets for the show. Tickets are $50 and include lunch, the show and other entertainment. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 1.
