Grundy offering flu vaccine

The Grundy County Health Department will host walk-in clinic to receive the H1N1 vaccine Oct. 29 at 1320 Union St. in Morris. The clinic will start at 2 p.m. and continue until all vaccine is exhausted.

Staff will issue numbers to alleviate people waiting in line only to find out vaccine may be gone.

The county received 100 intranasal and 100 injectable vaccines.

The intranasal vaccine is only for healthy peeople age 2-49 without underlying health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, etc. Children younger than age 9 should receive a second vaccine in no less than 28 days after the first vaccine.

If a person has received a live vaccine, such as seasonal flu intranasal or measles, mumps and rubella or chicken pox vaccine, they must wait 28 days before receiving intranasal H1N1 vaccine.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or written permission from their parent.
