Infant Welfare group plans fundraiser
Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare will hold its second annual Jammin' in Jeans fundraiser from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at 536 Crescent Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.
Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Tickets for the pre-party, which begins at 7 p.m. are $55.
The event will feature live music from Fabulous Frank and Dave.
All proceeds will benefit Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare.

The show stars Vincent McPherson as Don Lockwood, Alex Dunne as Cosmo Brown, Courtney Hickman as Kathy Selden, Mallory Houser as Lina Lamont, Mitch McNeily as R.F. Simpson, Michael Norton as Roscoe Dexter, Linzi Johnston as Dora Bailey, Danny Alfonzo as Rod and Nora Turmel as Zelda Zanders.
More than 100 students are involved in the production, including actors, pit orchestra, light and sound crew and stage and running crews.

Through Nov. 12, Restor Healing Centre is going to give $1 for each pound of candy received to the People's Resource Center. The candy will be shipped to the troops in Afghanistan.
"Our kids always get way too much candy," said Dr. Kris Sargent of Restor Healing Centre. "We just figured out what to do with it in a way that will serve our community and our country at the same time."

The open house is geared toward middle school students of all faiths, particularly those enrolled in sixth, seventh or eighth grades.
St. Francis is a college preparatory, coed, Catholic high school. Faculty members will be present during the open house, and tours of the facility will be conducted.

The show, which will feature more than 200 exhibitors, will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 8.

Illinois received $174.6 million in federal funds to assist low-income families this winter. Applications are now being accepted.
A single-person household can qualify with a monthly income of up to $1,354; a two-person household up to $1,821; and a family of four can earn up to $2,756. Benefits are paid directly to utilities on behalf of eligible households. The exception is households whose heating costs are included in their rent.
The energy grant applications are processed through a network of 35 local administering agencies around the state. In DuPage County, residents should contact the DuPage County Department of Human Services at 630-407-6500. The office is located at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first served basis from eligible households.
Guests will hear about the group's plans for the coming year as they enjoy a gourmet meal, a cooking demonstration and some jazz music.
Individual contributions of $40 will benefit health and wellness programs throughout the DuPage area.

In addition to chili, hot dogs, chili dogs, salads, chips, desserts and a variety of hot and cold drinks will be served.
This is the 10th year that the church will feed hungry Christmas shoppers in order to help those in need throughout the world. Proceeds from the event are donated to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America World Hunger Appeal.
