Hadley set to launch cashless lunch system

November 6, 2009

Within the next two weeks, parents of students at Hadley Junior High School in Glen Ellyn will receive a letter in the mail outlining the new cashless lunch system that will start Dec. 8.

All students will use this system, including those who are in the Free Lunch Program.

Students will purchase lunch items using their ID cards and cashiers will not be able to accept cash. Parents may manage their child's account online, will be able see what their child is buying for lunch and are responsible for making sure that there are sufficient funds in the account.

Children who are in the Free Lunch Program will not need an account to purchase a plated lunch, but will need to have money in their account if they would like to purchase items which are not included in the Free Lunch Program.

Parents who do not have access to a computer or do not wish to deposit online will be able to deposit funds via check.

Students may continue to bring a sack lunch.

Students were given an overview of the new system recently during lunch, and details of the system and how to access it will be in the letter to parents.
