Glen Ellyn village clerk to resign

November 6, 2009

The village of Glen Ellyn is looking for a new village clerk and collector.

Andrea Draths will resign from the post of village collector Nov. 20, and will leave as village clerk by the end of the year.

She was elected village clerk in 2005 and was re-elected this year.

During her time with the village she served for 10 years as a part-time administrative clerk before taking on the duties of collector and clerk.

"Leaving the village was a difficult decision for me," she said. "I have the utmost respect for President Pfefferman and the Village Board and what they are working to accomplish for the village of Glen Ellyn."

The Village Board will discuss how to handle the vacancies created by Draths' announcement.

The responsibilities of the village clerk are to seal and attest all contracts and other documents requiring the village seal, control all papers belonging to the village, prepare and keep a record of all officers of the village, maintain an index of all records and documents and attend all Village Board meetings and keep a record of the proceedings.

The village collector collects and receives special assessments and special taxes, coordinates Freedom of Information Act requests, records all village documents at the DuPage County Recorder's Office and supervises clerical employees in the Administration Department.
