Waubonsie downs Plainfield Central

Waubonsie Valley beat Plainfield Central 59-50. The Warriors used balanced scoring to take the nonconference win, as six players scored at least five points and 10 found their way into the score book overall. Jelani Johnson had 14 points to lead Waubonsie while Roy McElroy added 11 points and seven rebounds. In other weekend action, the Warriors topped Streamwood 76-70 behind Johnson's 24-point effort. Johnny Strauss added 20 for Waubonsie, which hit 16 of its 19 shots from the stripe in the final period.

Oswego East 49, Plainfield South 45 -- Trailing Plainfield South by seven at halftime on Friday, the Wolves (3-4, 2-2 Southwest Prairie Conference) mounted a steady comeback behind a high-pressure defense and eventually posted a four-point victory.

Oswego E. 55, Plainfield S. 29 -- The Wolves improved to 9-1 overall (4-1 Southwest Prairie) behind 13 points, eight rebounds and four blocks from Ivory Russell. Lauryn Marchert and Jasmine Davis each scored 10.

Waubonsie 56, Streamwood 36 -- The Warriors remained unbeaten at 9-0 (2-0 Upstate Eight) behind a game-high 23 points from Tanysha Walls. Keiera Ray added 11 rebounds and five steals and Kara Weiss dished out six assists.
