11th conviction gets man a stint in federal prison
Christopher Mosby, 44, was sentenced this week to five years in federal
prison on drug charges, according to the U.S. Attorney's office in
Chicago. Mosby was one of eight people arrested in 2008 during
"Operation Land O' Lakes" -- a reference to "butter" made by drug
dealers.

Fire burns out pallet company building
Aurora firefighters contained a fire Tuesday evening at Interstate Pallet Company on Mitchell Road in Aurora,
just north of Indian Trail. No injuries were reported.

Key Wester stabbing called a hoax
The Aurora man who told Naperville police he had been beaten and
stabbed in an armed robbery outside the Key Wester restaurant last
weekend was lying, officials said, and he now faces a misdemeanor
charge of filing a false police report.

Heater caused school fire
A faulty heater was the cause of a fire that did $500,000 in damage to
a Waubonsie Valley High School storage building during Saturday's
homecoming dance.
Crash closes Butterfield Road
Butterfield Road near Eola Road on Aurora's northeast side was closed early Thursday afternoon after a car crashed into a pick-up truck. The drivers were taken to area hospitals with apparently minor injuries.
Another cold-case acquittal
A Kane County judge has acquitted another defendant from Operation First Degree Burn, the massive 2007 sweep that charged 31 men in Aurora murders dating back two decades. Judge Tim Sheldon this week found Juan Verdugo, 27, of Aurora, not guilty in the Dec. 21, 2003, murder of 17-year-old Robert Rem.

Fire does $500,000 damage at Waubonsie
Fire did an estimated $500,000 in damage to a Waubonsie Valley High School storgage building and its contents Saturday night in a blaze that erupted while the homecoming dance was taking place at the nearby Aurora school.
